As England move in to the final stage of the lockdown roadmap next week business have widely welcomed the conformation that social distancing rules will be removed and remaining businesses such as Nightclubs will be allowed to reopen.

Dispute the rules being dropped businesses are left confused as ministers have called for continued caution, recommending that people continue to wear face masks in crowded areas and event planners use “COVID passports.”

Clair Walker, co-executive director of the British Chambers of Commerce has said, “many business owners would sigh with relief” after hearing the government has given the green light for reopening. “But they still don’t have the full picture they desperately need to properly plan the unlock.”

Business owners need clear guidelines in order to remove uncertainty on how they should operate from next Monday. This needs to be a clear plan on what they should be doing to keep customers and staff safe.

Ms Walker called for more clarity for firms on issues such as how to decide which COVID measures to keep, and which to ditch; and if the latter, what might be the consequences for them if an outbreak is linked to their premises.
